Welcome to the tutorial for setting up both Bukkit 172RO devo build Server and the Basic jar extension Vanilla Server for Win8 OS. The most time consuming part is having to path your java7 to the server bat file as Win8 does not want to make things easy anymore. Though you only need to path it 1 time then you can run as many servers as you want.
How to path Java to auto open your server command:
1. go to your hard trive, program files (x86), find and COPY the java folder
2. paste it in the original program files (no x86)
3. open the java folder. jre6 (or 7, there should only be one folder there) then bin. right click the top bar, and click COPY ADRESS!
4. right click on computer and go to properties, advanced system settings and click CONTINUE
5. in the advanced menu, click on environment variables, the top one marked USER not ADMIN!!!
6. click new, name it "PATH" (all caps, no qutations) then paste the directory you copied before.
7. make another new one. name it "CLASSPATH" (once again, all caps no quotations) and paste the SAME DIRECTORY
8. CLICK OK!!
ONE MORE THING! if you launch it and it says unable to load. open the batch file (right click, edit) and put the name of the WHOLE jar file. (ex. craftbukkit-1.5.2-R0.1.jar instead of craftbukkit.jar) and GIVE IT A MINUTE TO LOAD (only takes like 10 seconds) and have fun:)
The above helps to load the path for java to run. Now lets set up a bukkit server first:
Go get the latest [as of now 172RO Developers build] bukkit server from here:
Once you get it [15MB] go ahead and make an on desktop folder and name it something like Server 1.
now open note pad and copy paste this in:
save as run.bat [be sure not to save as txt!] save it in the server file.
rename server jar to craftbukkit
now double click on bat file and it will load cmd prompt
YOU WILL SEE ERRORS this is normal and it is making files in server directory so let it do its thing.
in server PROPERTIES file mark these to fully setup your server before going live:
whitelist=true [be sure to whitelist your self and set yourself as op in op file.
this will make the server run on pc but not on live until you are good to go. Also you can add your ip adress from the listed ivp4 ip in cmd just bring up cmd prompt and type in "ipconfig" [no quotes] and type your ivp4 ip and add as a server ip in minecraft or other gaming address.
For any plugins unless the creator says otherwise just add in "Plugins" folder boot up server let it run creating more directories then issue "STOP" command then restart and you are good.
Congrats you have a working bukkit server. Also you cannot go online with cracked clients via bukkit servers.
Go here and download the .jar server not the exe
minecraft server 172 jar
As above open notepad and enter this code:
save as run.bat [not a txt] in the server directory you made.
If you want to devote more (or less) RAM to your server, change the 1024M to something else, like 2048M. The first number is the maximum amount it can use, and the second number is the minimum. Since everything is in Java, you should have at least a spare gig of RAM to devote to Minecraft. Things can get unruly with a decent amount of people playing, especially when you start to do crazy stuff like blowing up huge caverns with massive amounts of TNT.
run the bat file [if you get an error on java follow the PATH guide above ^
The first time you run the server, you’ll get some errors at first. That’s normal, so don’t panic!
The server didn’t find the configuration files it needs, so it’ll make them. You’ll see some new files come up in the same folder as your server.
There’s the “world” folder, which contains your generated map area, an ops list, and a server.properties file, among other things.
Once the world is finished generating, you’ll get a little notice about the help file. Close the server, or if you’re running it in Terminal, just type “stop” (without the quotes). We’re going to tweak and we can’t do that while the server’s running.
open server.properties file and you will see these among other ___=true/false
You’ll see some important options.
level-name: This is the name of your Minecraft world. If you change this name, the server will look for a folder with a matching name, and if none is found, it will generate a new level with this name.
spawn-monsters: If set to false, monsters such as zombies, skeletons, and creepers will not spawn. Often turned off for “op” or “creative” servers, where everyone builds and survival is not the focus of gameplay.
spawn-animals: If set to false, animals such as wolves, cows, sheep, and chickens will not spawn.
pvp: If set to false, players will not be able to harm one another, although you can still inflict damage by pushing other players off of ledges.
white-list: If set to true, the server will only allows the usernames in the “white-list.txt” file to successfully connect and play.
now to find out what all the commands do go here:
Since it’s your server, be sure to add your Minecraft username in the “ops.txt” file. That way, you’ll be an “operator” with full admin rights. You can generate any item you want, ban players, make other players ops, and change the in-game time.
In order for your friends to connect to your server you’ll have to configure port forwarding on your router. The default port is 25565, but this can be changed in the server.properties file. Your friends will need your IP address (or DNS alias/redirect) and this port number so that they can connect.
If you’re playing on the same computer as your server, you can just type “localhost” (without the quotes). Otherwise, plug in your server’s IP address or domain name. Click connect, and you’ll join the server.
also all server commands from a RAW server [no addons, plugins, or mods]
each plugin has its own set commands like:
/sph -f 20 2000
be sure to read or/and copy each plugs properties/commands.
they have before lol
why is it all people trying to rip us off have very little design ethics and are also possibly color blind? Is it just me or does that site look like baby poo swatches?
I do have an answer, but, you need $$ = seedbox
deffo get a box if you upload.
run a windows VM and play it in that.
