The best malware/virus/trojan removal tool is your brain. Think about what you are installing to your system. And what comes for the BEST firewall, it's "Air-Firewall". Just plug your computer out of the internet.... :D
But for the tools:
google -> it's like god and tells you how to remove a malware/virus your having on your system.
VMware -> Take a snapshot from your virtual machine and install everything in there. If it brakes down, just roll back to the snapshot where from you started. This is a good way to know is the software safe to install to the main system.
regedit -> handy tool by Microsoft (you can find this in every windows system). With it you can find almost everything which lays down under the hood. For manual malware removal.
taskmanager -> handy tool by Microsoft to kill that f-kin' process
Tuneup Utilities Taskmanager -> alternate version for microsoft taskmanager. Some virus/malware programs might prevent ms windows taskmanager from running. For "Plan B" usage.
hardware firewall -> usually most ADSL, DSL, Cable boxes have this. eg. NAT protection.
Software firewall -> Windows own firewall
AVAST -> it has sandbox where you can run suspicious software without harming the mainframe.
Spybot Search & Destroy -> Automatic malware removal tool relying on definition files. P.S. You shouldn't immunize the system, your computer might be too 'safe' and behave like it shouldn't (eg. prevents autorun function from working)
Trend Micro HijackThis and hijackthis.de analyzer -> manual malware removal.
It is so hard to believe that some dog owners are so ignorant! Makes me angry. Because of this I try to be rational ...
I have no idea for the backgrounds and no idea do you live in apartment house or in a town house or the breed for the dog. But are you 100% sure the dog howls because of bad condition, pain and suffering? Not for the loneliness or some other behaviour which is more common? Eg. Alsatian who needs lot's of stimulation for welfare, otherwise it gets easily bored and in long term: it starts to misbehave.
If the dog is all day long outdoors, digging holes and covering itself (is this true?) I would rather say that the dog is kind of clever: maybe the air is cold and it wants to get warm. Or it's just frustrated or bored and tries to do something: Maybe it's a game or it just loves the dirt from the bottom of it's heart. Dunno.
You should change your approach and consider about the rules of your house community and loud disturbing noises: be polite and tell to your neighbours what's happening. Maybe your neighbours don't even know that their dog howls while they are out of home.
If you have talked with them and you are really worried, you should contact SPCA yourself and let the professionals investigate the dog's condition.
Any ways, my first thought wouldn't be euthanasia for a howling dog which gets to my nerve.

If you are a good writer, I would love you to review the following BBC series: "How to Grow a Planet"
BBC site for the series:
KAT for the torrents (it has 3 episodes):
These things annoys me in movies:
When a bad guy shoots good guys car, it wont KABOOM!!
When a good guy shoots bad guys car, KABOOM!!
When a vehicle crashes to a tree, to a rock - you name it, KABOOOM!!
In restaurant they have beautiful portions front of them and they end up not eating it.
When they shoot from their hips and the bullets just fly to the target
When they decide to split-up and someone says "it's a bad idea" gets ignored
When the movie ends to wedding
when the movie ends to singing
When the bad guy starts babbling in the "final battle" instead of killing the good guy
When the good guy kills easily 100 bad guys and in the "final battle" good guys IDDQD mode wears off.
Here's my desktop... Actually I did a quite job for this theme -- I combined bunch of rainmeters adding fast acces functions/commands for my most frequently used applications & windows commands/tools.
Thank you for your fast response =^.^=
If that is accepted then I'm in-to the next challenge :)
Sounds fun, but I shoot RAW. So for me it is impossible to participate this challenge.
