UFC 170 - Rousey vs McMann
Whittaker vs Thompson. I like Whittaker in this fight, he fights in a style like I used to, but he keeps his hands lower. I liked the way he looked and his aggressiveness. I think it was a pretty even fight, but he got caught by Thompson and dropped. No real complaints here except I wish Whittaker had won.
Maia vs McDonald. After getting owned in the first round I thought McDonald got the last two rounds. Wasn't really surprised with the decision.
Cormier vs Cummings. So one sided. Cormier really wasn't tested at all, and yes I know Cummings took this fight on short notice, but wow, for a training partner he looked as though he never met Cormier or his style at all.
Rousey vs McMann. Rousey is so much bigger than her opponents, it isn't funny. I know they supposedly weigh the same, but she looked huge compared to McMann. Another one sided fight here. McMann started with some clear, clean shots on Rousey, but it didn't even phase Rousey! I couldn't believe it.
Now as to whether it was an "early" stoppage or not. I think not. And yes I am a Herb Dean fan, but even if it was Yamasaki or one of the other refs I don't care for, I would say the same thing. In real time, it definitely looked early, but when you see it in replay, McMann totally just drops to her hands and knees and Rousey had at least three clean shots to her head, so if the ref is there to protect the fighters, then that is what Herb Dean did.
That being said, the other fight Dean ref'd, Pyle vs Waldburger, again, I am going to come to defense of Dean here. I think it was clear that Waldburger was done, BUT Pyle wasn't doing anything to show that he was done. Pyle hit him with one shot, then stopped, one shot then stopped. If he even tried to put in a flurry of punches, even if the punches weren't landing, I guarantee you that Dean would have stopped it earlier. That was a case of Dean trying to allow the fighters to fight.
I think it was because of this though, that he called the Rousey fight so quick. McMann might have had something left, and if this decision didn't happen the way it did, I think Dean might have let the Rousey fight go on. Not, again, that I think he was wrong in stopping it when he did.
Overall nothing special on the main card, nothing I will probably remember in a week's time. lol.
Can't wait to talk about UFC Fight Night 38!
replies: 11why is it taking so long to get a copy of anchorman 2 ????????? go to this post
I know Madea is not everyone's taste, but even that movie which came out December 2013, is still only in rough cam form. I guess we just have to be patient and watchful.
I'd tend to go with the tough poopy one quicker, some guys don't need it at 38 why should others get an advantage over them?
I agree with you, Penguinpirate18938 , if they are using it to gain an advantage, but if you are using it because of lower testosterone than the average male at whatever age you are at, I am okay with it, because to me then it's evening the playing field. I may just be a little biased as I was really enjoying seeing how well Belfort was doing in his resurgence.
Ufc Fight Night 38 was good. It wasn't pretty good, it was GOOD. I enjoyed every fight on the main card, with the possible exception of the Guillard fight, but then again I have never been a Guillard fan. He is such a whiner and prima donna without the skills.(facepalm)
I'd like to comment on the UFC 170 and Bellator 111 in a minute, but that will definitely need a separate post.
Good job London! (oh, btw, the announcer Dan Hardy has that kinda permanent smirk on his face that really really just makes me want to punch him in the mouth over and over. lol.)
And I was just jumping on the Belfort bandwagon. :( Personally I think it's a bad decision. I know why they are doing it, I just think it's the wrong decision for the sport, especially when you need it for legit reasons and not just because you want to get bigger and stronger.
Okay just finished 170. It was a pretty decent card. I can't really complain about any of the fights, they were all really good, at least on the main card, I didn't see the prelims.
And I am a Herb Dean fan and the poor guy couldn't win for losing. lol.
Don't do that to me, Pringlescan9748 . I am not a neophyte when it comes to MMA or the UFC. I am not "booing" just because I don't see "action" I can appreciate a good technical fight. (Nog-Couture UFC 102, Jung-Porier..one of the UFC on Fuel fights) I have already said my piece about Machida and why I don't consider him a good fighter, as well versed as he may be in his "Machida style" karate.
I don't mind a dissenting opinion, just don't try and belittle me in doing so.
Yeah I didn't comment on the last fight because usually when I do, I kill the convo. lol. And yeah, not to pile on the Machida hate wagon, but you know how I feel about his fighting "style". :D
I am just downloading UFC 170 now, so we'll see.
Since I'm doing it I don't want any issues regarding points. Aside from that I'd do it a million times over and not enter if people enjoy it. That alone is enough.
I think you should join in. You are a MMA fan and should be IN it, and not just running it. Especially since there is really nothing involved except some fun. Plus I'd really like to have a chance at whooping you in this "game".
Lyoto Machida vs. Gegard Mousasi (Machida is going to do his usual chicken $h!+ hit and run, I mean "Machida Karate" style and win this with a decision. Mousasi isn't going to wrestle him at all, this will be a striking match. Mousasi subbed Mark Hunt and KO'd Souza, but against a runner like Machida, he isn't going to be nearly aggressive enough. I SO want to be wrong on this one. I really want Machida to die from a heart attack from all that running away. )
Ronaldo Souza vs. Francis Carmont (3 fights in the last year, kimura, triangle, punches vs decision, decision, decision. Sub 1st round.)
Erick Silva vs. Takenori Sato (This one is ending in a sub. I'll go with the underdog on this one. Round 3.)
Viscardi Andrade vs. Nicholas Musoke (I remember Musoke subbing Sakara in a UFC event in England. But I will go with experience here and choose KO round 1.)
Thiago Tavares vs. Zubair Tuhugov (why is this a main card bout? I am sure I could get two homeless guys who would put on a better fight than this on a main card. Going with the new guy vs the bust. Decision.)
Charles Oliveira vs. Andy Ogle (Decision)
Cristiano Marcello vs. Joe Proctor (Decision)
Rodrigo Damm vs. Ivan Jorge (Decision)
Francisco Trinaldo vs. Jesse Ronson (Sub, round 2)
Iuri Alcantara vs. Wilson Reis (KO, Round 1)
Felipe Arantes vs. Maximo Blanco (How can you go against someone named Maximo Blanco? lol. Decision.)
Ildemar Alcantara vs. Albert Tumenov (KO, round 1)
Link to the next card as for some reason I am unable to find it. Grrrrr.
