Upgrading from windows 2000 pro to xp30 June 2012, 19:40 (11 months ago)
If this is in wrong spot I'm sorry and didn't know where it went. I want to know what would I need to upgrade to windows xp on a windows 2000 pro. I have some knowledge of computers but I was wondering if there was a way to do this with out spending a butt load of money.
Thanks for the Help as always 2000 is basically XP so you should have no problems and no expenses.
Torrent: Windows XP Professional SP3 Integrated January 2012 (32-bit) + SATA Drivers Use that torrent or one similar so you'll have the latest service pack (SP3) Thanks SirSeedAlot I will give the download a try and just for the record It's my Mother's computer that has windows 2000 and I thought I would be a good son and try to upgrade it for her myself and not have her pay a butt load of money for someone else to do it. So I hope I can do it for her.
Thanks again to the awesome people here. If this is in wrong spot I'm sorry and didn't know where it went. I want to know what would I need to upgrade to windows xp on a windows 2000 pro. Thanks for the Help as always You cannot upgrade from win2k pro to xp, but you can go with a fresh install. Just to make things a bit clearer: - Upgrade - all your settings, data and software will remain untouched - Fresh Install - you will have to backup your data, re-install your favorite software, reconfigure the system etc. Moving away from win2k pro it's a good move IMHO, there is a whole lot of applications without win2k support. Good luck. Last edited by flatdog172, 11 months ago Just FYI here is Windows XP supported upgrade paths, by Microsucks Microsoft.
Mate Just remember ... "Back it up all you data, including drivers from your old OS", make a OS Image Recovery CD (if there is an option to).. then proceeds PD BTW, we must understand two things, one is the supported upgrade paths of a system, and the other is the support for hardware controllers for systems resources for specific architectures... I have seen cases where the hardware architecture, it has not support included for some drivers on distributions software, then carefully, it happened in a little old architecture.
