{Lately, I've had to password protect all my files due to copyright reasons.}
How many of you have downloaded a torrent with a zip file only to be greatly disappointed in finding the above or similar message explaining your Torrent file is password protected. Usally a message in the folder says, "to access this password file you must go to a disclosed website where your password is waiting. In truth when a person goes there they are told they must first compleat a bunch of task. These task usually entail filling out surveys, or applying for credit related items, subscribing to magazines for some type of monthly Dr. Journal that's ultimate goal is to sell you things. If a person does attempt to meet the requirements they usually end up getting entangled with a company that's ultimate goal is to siphon as much money from them as possible, secondly for those who make the mistake of revealing their e-mail address, well let's just say SPAM will have a hole new meaning. If you or someone you know has experienced this kind of Torrent you're not alone, because it's an epidemic in the Torrenting community. I believe BOYCOTTING All Torrents files that have any traces of a zip file is the only solution to ending this ongoing assult. Undoubtably, some will argue zip files increase download time. This may have been true at one time but it's certainly not true today! With the current improvements in Torrenting software zip files serve no constructive purpose and in actuality only serve to frustrate downloaders and to decrease the confidence of the Torrent users everywhere. Now I'm not advocating marking reliable Zip torrent as being unreliable or fakes. But rather that we all should start explaining in the comment section how using zip files in Torrents helps increase the accurance of FAKES and why they should be boycotted by all. I personally don't mid the zip/rar torrents at all. It's how we learn to be smarter users. Banning zip/rar torrents would not be a good move at all. i agree with you as for more i did find plenty of torrent that are not compressed in any way and still asking for surveys because of some weird codecs banning zip files will not solwe the problem ..reporting corrupted files and users that posting that kind of chit will ![]() ![]() {Lately, I've had to password protect all my files due to copyright reasons.} I'll take a zipped file before a password protected file any day!! lol not if the password is right there in front, but yeah it can be fake. zipped is better than password archives! Some of you are being way too general.
Blocking/boycotting all .zip and other compressed file types would be a mistake. They aren't completely useless and not all of them are filled with spam or malware. Though movies and music have no business being in a .zip, really. Just scan the ones that you do download and report the ones that you find that are bad. This is the kind of childish crap I get for saying that not all archived files are malware but movies/music shouldn't be archived?
Just got this in my inbox: lol stop any member that uploads archived material from being a "verified" uploader here. sure that will not effect indexed sh*t from non-members but it would be a start and send a strong message. i think you disagree with this because your a tit... that`s fine this site is full of them. ![]() ................................. -_- Last edited by Celtisch157, 10 months ago |
