This weekend saw the Luminere Festival in Durham city
this was the 3rd event of this kind held here 2009 2011 &2013
I visited On Sunday Evening for the first time, with my best friend & our daughters
The city was packed with families enjoying the experience ,we where all herded through barriers like cattle ,but this was to be expected because of the huge amount of people visiting, tickets had been issued this year to make it easier ,we didn't have them & had to wait until 7:30 pm to start the tour of the most popular sites
I took my camera ,hoping to get some pics, but i forgot to charge my camera battery
So i only managed to take a few ,& they don't do it justice
Here are the ones i manged to get ..
This was a display of stickmen on the old Durham miners hall
Telling the story of the miners coming back from the pit
Sounds where a mix of old miners songs !!
featuring Lee Dorsey’s “Working in a coalmine” recorded by young people from Durham County Wind Band.
I personally loved this display.. the sounds in deep bass disco tones were Awesome
Here is a gif i made with the few pics i managed to get
The gif Doesn't really do it justice !!
The Millburngate house was transformed into a visual jukebox
playing music from the sixties ,it was a treat !! i can't really find a pic to show how good it was
This is a view towards the castle form millburngate
The Christmas Tree is made from thousands of discarded plastic bags
Simple decorations made with plastic bags
‘Elephantastic’ is a large-scale 3D optical illusion that projects onto a distant archway.
I cant describe how Awesome this was ,it had a eerie mystical feeling
Crown of Light’ is a projection featuring manuscripts from the Lindisfarne Gospels,
Taegon Kim’s ethereal work was displayed in the cathedral courtyard ,pretty dresses changing colors
‘Solar Equation’ the world’s largest spherical helium balloon, representing the sun, hovers over Durham city center.
‘Aquarium’ is a former BT red telephone box, transformed into an illuminated aquarium tank.
Marquess of Londonderry, lit up in the market square in blue.. The Giant Snow Globe
Then at the end of the evening we enjoyed a hog roast butty with chips yummy
More than 600 schoolchildren across County Durham took part in workshops about Litre of Light, the campaign bringing alternative light sources to people in parts of the world where electricity is either too expensive or not available at all.
Thank you for coming to my blog ,i hope you enjoyed it !!

A man walks into a restaurant with a full-grown ostrich behind him. The waitress asks them for their orders. The man says, "A hamburger, fries and a coke," and turns to the ostrich, "What's yours?" "I'll have the same," says the ostrich. A short time later the waitress returns with the order. "That will be £10.40 please." The man reaches into his pocket and pulls out the exact change for payment.
The next day, the man and the ostrich come again and the man says, "A hamburger, fries and a coke." The ostrich says, "I'll have the same." Again the man reaches into his pocket and pays with exact change.
This becomes routine until the two enter again. "The usual?" asks the waitress. "No, this is Friday night, so I will have a steak, baked potato and a salad," says the man. "Same," says the ostrich. Shortly the waitress brings the order and says, "That will be £32.62." Once again the man pulls the exact change out of his pocket and
places it on the table.
The waitress cannot hold back her curiosity any longer. "Excuse me, sir. How do you manage to always come up with the exact change in your pocket every time?"
"Well," says the man, "several years ago I was cleaning the attic and
found an old lamp. When I rubbed it, a Genie appeared and offered me two wishes. My first wish was that if I ever had to pay for anything, I would just put my hand in my pocket and the right amount of money would always be there."
"That's brilliant!" says the waitress. "Most people would ask for a million dollars or something, but you'll always be as rich as you want for as long as you live!"
"That's right.Whether it's a gallon of milk or a Rolls Royce, the exact money is always there," says the man.
The waitress asks, "What's with the ostrich?"
The man sighs, pauses and answers, "My second wish was for a tall chick with long legs who agrees with everything I say.."

When i was growing up my gran (Dads Mum) was a bit of a medium ,and to be honest i never saw much of her ,but when i did she scared the life out of me ,both she and my grandad went to spiritual meetings at this little church where they would try and speak to the dead ,they also went to these big events in Blackpool where ghosts were summoned up ,let me tell you those stories to a kid were scary they actually saw ghosts they said .▼63 comments
They also had this weegie board gadget, with letters on it .. you sat around the table and they would say..." is there anybody there" i don't know whether they pushed the thing themselves or not but it would move and spell out words and give this Prophecy that you would walk under a bus or something bad like this .
I love scarey movies ,but i don't really believe in ghosts ..Do you ??

I'm a huge fan of this series and wondered if anyone else felt the same way as myself ,who is your favorite character ??..
My favorite female Character is " Daenerys Targaryen " played by Emilia Clarke.
My favorite Male character is "Tyrion Lannister" played by Peter Dinklage.
Series 3 is said to be coming in February or March 2013 !! I cant wait to watch ...
Diana Rigg of the classic British series "The Avengers" joins "Game of Thrones" as Lady Olenna Tyrell, "The Queen of Thorns." She is the grandmother of the aristocrats Loras and Margaery Tyrell and the matriarch of the powerful Tyrell clan.
