Tragedyposted 20 Jul 2012, 09:42US gunman kills 14 at Batman film
July 20, 2012 8:36 AM At least 14 people have been killed in a shooting at a Batman film premiere in the US city of Denver, police say. About 50 people have been injured in the incident, police say. Witnesses say a gunman wearing a gas mask opened fire at the cinema complex in Aurora, at a midnight showing of The Dark Knight Rises. There are reports the gunman released a smoke bomb during the incident. Police say they have one suspect in custody. Many ambulances are at the scene. The Swedish Medical Center, not the area's main hospital, told the BBC it had received three gunshot victims. A witness told 9News that during a shooting scene in the film he heard loud bangs and a lot of smoke and initially thought they were live special effects put on by the cinema. Projectiles came through the wall from the neighbouring theatre screening, the witness said. CNN quoted one witness saying: "A guy slowly making his way up the stairs and firing - picking random people." BBC © 2012 |

You know, I've been seeing a lot of people posting how they are grieving the tragedy in Aurora. People from all over the the country, and it makes me wonder.
Who the hell are you guys kidding? Out of the hundreds I've seen, there have probably been nearly a handful whose thoughts actually matter because they either lost a loved one or a friend, or lived nearby so it would effect them.
I see so many people people posting this humancentric gibberish, and lording their humanity over others like its a badge of honor. And yet, they say nothing about the genocide in developing countries, the deaths of soldiers, families destroyed by strife, natural disasters, plague and famine...
And so I say this unto you people: Please be quiet. You don't really care. The only reason you give a damn is because you saw it on the news or internet and saw everyone else jumping on board the pity bandwagon and want to be part of the group. But you are shallow, and I know this because you forgot about the soldiers and the children and the families in other countries as soon as the news stopped talking about it, and you'll forget about this when some other disaster or fad or meme comes along to distract you.
To the few whose heart is actually in it, well, you keep doing what you will.
It may appear calloused or heartless, but it's true. People don't honestly care, they just want to put on a good front for others, and I find that despicable.
