HIDTA

To qualify as a HIDTA an area must:

Be a major center of illegal drug production, manufacturing, importation, or distribution;
.
Have state and local law enforcement agencies already engaged;
.
Have a harmful impact on other areas of the country; and
.
Require a significant increase in federal resources.
.
If you're in one of these areas then the crime rate is high as is the murder rate....Violence is commonplace. Meth labs and cocaine distribution are the primary enterprises.
.
Here's an interesting murder rate chart. Since the figure covers entire states it's not possible to attribute murders to the HIDTA regions, but it's a safe bet most murders are gang and drug related in the HIDTA zones. Washington DC is such a small HIDTA area that the murder rate pops out.

Tabarnak! Americans drug addicts and drug dealers are really solving problems between them the hard way! You owe me money, you don't have it, a bullet in your head and bye bye......
I live in Canada. I don't want to say more than that because if I start saying that our National average of drugs related murders is lower than the majority of the States in USA, I know I'll get bashed in and some dumb people will say that I'm rubbing it so I don't feel arguing with idiots and I'll just say: I am a Canadian. A French Canadian.

Virgin Island rate must be incorrect b/c one article say there was only 66 annual homicides at the highest year...so unless only 1,000 people live on that isle something just doesn't add up.
