Puzzle in form of Story

7 thief's went for a robbery in a merchant house, there they found a casket and lifted the casket but made some sounds too.. hearing those merchant woke up and chaos began, but two thief's who were carrying were managed to escape safely and came under a BANYAN TREE.

They thought no will come and they started sharing the money(in form of coins) in the casket after sharing all at the end 1 rupee (am Indian so i made my currency u can convert them into yours) was left unshared

all of a sudden 3rd thief came and asked them to give his share too, so two thief's clubbed what they shared and started sharing to three at end again 1 rupee was left unshared

4th one came and they do same as above again 1 rupee was left unshared

5th one came and they do same as above again 1 rupee was left unshared

6th one came and they do same as above again 1 rupee was left unshared

7th one came and they do same as above but this time no coin left all got equal share

MY QUESTION - HOW MUCH MONEY IS THERE IN THE CASKET AT FIRST

*explanation needed for answer

However much was in the casket, by the time you've opened it it's only worth half of what it says.
